A Letter From Sandy ShulmanDear Fellow Horseman:At the end of a year come reflections, and having been a Thoroughbred trainer for almost twenty years my thoughts naturally revolve around the horse racing industry. You, too, are involved in the sport, and the purpose of this letter is to first thank you for your involvement and participation in the "Sport of Kings." Since there are very few kings any more, owners like you form the cornerstone of Thoroughbred racing, a fact that many forget, or never even realize. I have always felt that owning horses should, at the very least, be fun and enjoyable. And it has been my experience that with communication and teamwork between owner and trainer, it can even be profitable. Such teamwork I've always found yields the best individual potential from each horse. That brings me to the second purpose of this letter. Although I am in no way recommending that you leave your current trainer, I would like you to know that you can feel free to call me at any time with general or specific questions about our industry, my training philosophy, or whatever's on your mind about horse racing in general. If for any reason you should ever need a new trainer, or to add to the number of trainers you have, I certainly would appreciate your consideration. You will also find my rates very competitive. Here's to a terrific 1998 for the both of us. Sincerely, Sandy Shulman |
