WORDS FROM THE WISE - WOMEN IN RACING TELL IT LIKE IT IS

Lexington, KY - August 21, 2001 - Eclipse Press Inc., announces the publication of "Women in Racing - In Their Own Words".

"Women in Racing" is a collection of candid interviews with eighteen women who broke into the once predominately male bastion of horse racing. Their honest and moving stories recount the everyday challenges they overcame to pursue their dreams - from jockey room brawls to the hardships faced by a Mexican groom, who left behind her one-month-old child to find work in the United States.

Breeder Alice Chandler, trainers Jenine Sahadi and Linda Rice, TV commentator Charlsie Cantey, and former jockey Donna Barton are among the women featured. Their interviews combine to form a compelling picture of racing behind the scenes.

"Women in Racing" was written by the award-winning father-daughter duo of John and Julia McEvoy.

To celebrate the book's release, Arlington Park racetrack near Chicago will host a signing on September 3 from noon to 1 p.m. In addition to the McEvoys, several of the women featured in the book, including top Chicago jockey Zoe Cadman, are scheduled to participate.
