Hi Al,

Get ready, get set, and tomorrow it is GO for Lone Star Park.

The media attention LS has received here in the Dallas area has been great--and it is getting greater. Richard Glover of the media relations at LSP told me that things have been a-hopping around there, with camera crews from all the major networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS, and Fox, as well CNN. In addition, reporters from various papers have been there--one even requested permission to be there 24 hours a day until opening.

There is good reason for so much attention, I believe. Opening day races have 123 entries. The first race to be held will be the Premier Stakes, a race for 3yo and up, accredited Texas-breds at 1 mi 1/16. Among the 14 entries running are favorites Vindictive Silence, Thrillerfrommanila, Brentwood Pass, and (my favorite) Mister Herbert. This race will be broadcast by Fox SW sports at 5pm CDT, as well as being carried by many simulcasting outlets.

In addition, general excitement continues. Racing Secretary Larry Craft has reported that over 400 TRAINERS have filed papers with him, 107 of which have horses stabled on the grounds. That is alot of excitement among horsemen. Today a plane carrying 11 SoCal horses will be landing--among these will be Bob Bafferts trainees Anet, Isitingood, and Semoran. Tomorrow Skip Away and Frisk Me Now are scheduled to arrive from Florida. That should be worth more excitement.

The weather has been marvelous, and looks to hold through at least Saturday. Some recent works indicate the track is in good shape--Wild Wonder went 5f in 58, Diabolo Won went the same distance in 59, while Zarb's Magic went 1:00 and 2/5.

Well, I need to get my work finished so I can go to the opening day festivites tomorrow. Hoping all have a good day!

Jill
