Ian Jory Racing Stable

HORSES IN TRAINING

I am trying to give a small insight into some of the horses in the barn right now, without “giving the game away”! Please enjoy a vague description of some of our future and present stars.

Macward
Macward will run in the California Turf Championship on Labor Day at Bay Meadows. This will preclude his attempt to win the Cal Cup Mile at Santa Anita, a race he was second in last year.

Fabulous Guy

Fabulous Guy is one of my favorites, having distinguished himself in top company running two turns, but also having trouble relaxing. He is now enjoying life as a late closing sprinter, and that seems to be his thing right now. He recently won the Reb’s Policy Stakes, and has run second in The Morvich Handicap, and third in San Gabriel (Gp 2), and Turf Paradise Breeder’s Cup.

Try Jory

Try Jory is a full brother to Macward, Sonja’s Faith and Marvin’s Faith, and is a useful sprinter. He is getting close to being retired, but loves his training, and tries harder than any other horse that I have had. Still short of a stakes win, he has run third in The Dayjur Handicap, and the Senator Maddy Stakes.

Continental Red
Continental Red is a nice young horse, who has now won a maiden and his first allowance, and is a very versatile horse on either turf or dirt, with mud being his forte. He is one of Flying Continental’s better runners, and continues to improve. His brother, Sharp Looking Dude, seems to be following in his footsteps, and may be a better horse than him!

Conquista’s Jessica
Conquista’s Jessica showed a lot of promise as a two year old, and is nearly ready to run again, and Cozy Man looks like being a good claim, and continues to flourish.

Zanetti
Compromised by a bad draw in the Longacres Mile, Zanetti is back to his old form, and will run in the Del Mar Breeders Cup on September 3rd.

Mabel Kent
This filly runs back on Saturday at Del Mar, and looks like being a very promising two year old.

Cozy Man
He continues to plug away, and is a very versatile horse, being able to run on both surfaces, and to go anything up to a mile.
