CIGAR, CONCERN HAVE UNEVENTFUL TRIPS
FOR $1-MILLION HOLLYWOOD GOLD CUP
Allen Paulson's Cigar and Robert Meyerhoff's Concern, 9-5 and 5-2 morning line
choices, respectively, for Sunday's $1-million Hollywood Gold Cup, arrived safe and sound at Hollywood Park on Saturday.
"He got in about 6:30 Saturday night," said trainer Richard Small Sunday morning of The
Californian winner, Concern, who was bedded down at Charlie Whittingham's barn. "
The trip was fine. The plane was easy. It was a non-stop flight from Newark (N.J.). He's all
set. I had him at Monmouth for a couple of days and the horse is doing great."
"He shipped good and he seems happy about everything," said Cigar's trainer, Bill Mott,
at Bill Shoemaker's barn where Cigar has taken up temporary residence after his trip from Belmont Park.
"At this point in time it doesn't seem like it knocked him out at all. We had him on the race
track this (Sunday) morning and he seemed bright and sharp. He ate well last night and this morning, so everything seems good."

HOLIDAY SIMULCAST RACES SET
Hollywood Park will offer simulcast wagering on the $200,000-guaranteed Arlington
Classic (Gr. II) from Arlington Park on Monday, between the fourth and fifth live races. Post time is scheduled at 2:48 p.m.
Hollywood Park also will present simulcasts of the $75,000-guaranteed Stars and Stripes
Handicap (Gr. III) from Arlington and the $350,000-guaranteed Suburban Handicap (Gr. I) from Belmont Park on Tuesday, July 4.
The Suburban will be shown between the second at third races, at 2 p.m., while the Stars
and Stripes will go between the fourth and fifth races, at 2:40 p.m.

BELLO CIELO EYES HOLLYWOOD OAKS
Total Return Stable's Bello Cielo, a winner of two of her four career starts, is being
considered for the $200,000-added Hollywood Oaks next Sunday, trainer Neil Drysdale said.
"The race may come up light so we'll have to take a look at it," Drysdale said. A
Kentucky-bred daughter of Conquistador Cielo, Bello Cielo won an allowance race at 1 1/16 miles on the turf course at Hollywood Park on June 4, despite a rough trip.
The probable field for the Grade I Oaks, to be decided at 1 1/8 miles on the main track:
Bello Cielo, Eddie Delahoussaye; Carsona, no rider; Favored One, Alex Solis; Sleep Easy, Corey Nakatani, and Our Summer Bid, Jose Silva.

DOMINGUEZ PLANS TO TRIPLE-TEAM LANDALUCE
Caesar Dominguez, who has won more juvenile races than any trainer at the meet -- five --
said he could start three fillies in Saturday's $100,000-added Landaluce Stakes (Gr. II) at six furlongs.
Dominguez said Wasmi Song, a four-length winner in a maiden special weight on June 15, is
definite, and Ebony's Fast Play, runner-up in the $58,000 Moraga Stakes at Golden Gate Fields on June 17, and Petite N Powerful, six-length winner of a $40,000 maiden claiming event on June 26, are possible.
The probable favorite for the Landaluce, Dutton and J & J Racing Stable's Distinguish
Forum, breezed four furlongs in :48 flat Sunday morning with Eddie Delahoussaye up.
Last year's Landaluce Stakes was won by Serena's Song, with Cat's Cradle finishing third.
Confirmed for the Landaluce: Cara Rafaela, Corey Nakatani; Distinguish Forum, Eddie
Delahoussaye; Ecstasy, Kent Desormeaux; Liberty Nite, Laffit Pincay Jr.; Raw Gold, Alex Solis, and Wasmi Song, Chris Antley.
Possible: Ebony's Fast Play, Pat Valenzuela, and Petite N Powerful, Martin Pedroza.

FINISH LINES: Trainer Richard Mandella reports Talloires came out of his narrow
defeat by Jahafil in Saturday's Jim Murray Handicap in good shape and he is hoping for an invitation to the $500,000 Grande Premio O.S.A.F. (Gr. 1) race in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Aug. 5. "I was hoping to win the race (Jim Murray)," Mandella said, "because I'd like Talloires to be considered for the Brazilian race. He ran great and he's a good horse. I think we've ironed the kinks out. That's where we'd like to run next, if he's invited." The Grande Premio race is at 1 1/4 miles on the turf . . . Chris McCarron will take a family vacation from July 5 through July 14, agent Scott McClellan said. McCarron is planning a trip to Yellowstone Park.
Jockey Gary Stevens will be absent from Hollywood Park Thursday through Sunday,
agent Ron Anderson reports. Stevens will be at Churchill Downs Thursday and Friday to autograph 6,000 souvenir glasses. He rides Serena's Song for D. Wayne Lukas in the $250,000-guaranteed Coaching Club American Oaks (Gr. I) at Belmont Park next Saturday, and Langfuhr in the $400,000-estimated Queens Plate for Mike Keogh at Woodbine next Sunday . . . Trainer Hector Palma reports Blaze O'Brien is doing well as he awaits surgery for a broken right front sesamoid bone Monday at Alamo Pintado . . . Neil Drysdale said Irving and Marge Cowan's unbeaten French Deputy "probably will begin breezing again next week." The homebred son of Deputy Minister has been sidelined some five months with a bruised foot.
Jockey Kent Desormeaux captured the 2nd Annual All-Star Quarter Horse/Thoroughbred
Jockey Challenge Saturday night at Los Alamitos. It was the second straight year Desormeaux won the event. Other participants were Chris Antley, Russell Baze, Joe Badilla, John Creager and Eddie Garcia . . . Congratulations to Chris McCarron on becoming the third jockey to win 200 stakes races at Hollywood Park. The Hall of Famer accomplished the feat aboard Jahafil in Saturday's Jim Murray Handicap. McCarron joins Bill Shoemaker (280) and Laffit Pincay Jr. (250) . . . Jahafil's victory gave Sandy Shulman a 19-18 lead over Bobby Frankel in the trainers' standings.
